Some Good News and some Sad News


The good news is that in addition to being on Mark's Finest Papers Oriental Sketch Challenge Design Team I will now be a member of the Color Challenge Design Team also and I am looking forward to being a part of this great team.  The sad news is that the MFP Tutorial Time Challenge has closed but of course the tutorials are still available at MFPSpeedyTV.  I enjoyed working with such an amazing group of DT members and learning so many new techniques.  Be sure to visit MFP Stamp Shop and check out all the stamps and products available and be sure to join in the challenges.

Oriental Sketch Challenge #59 on MFPSpeedyTV

This is the last Oriental Sketch Challenge for 2014 - the team is taking the month of December off so t
his week's Oriental Sketch Challenge #59 uses this sketch:

 
Here is my card:


 

For my card this week I used stamps from the Dragonflies set and the sentiment is from the Lotus Blossoms set all from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  All images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I used the Wink of Stella Brush in clear on the dragonflies.  The background was embossed with the Spellbinders Asian embossing folder and a piece of  Birdsong designer paper  was added.  The circles and square are cut from Spellbinders dies.

This was my first time using Gelatos and I'll definitely be using them again.  My background was created with a Spellbinders die cut called Tranquil Moments on a piece of watercolor cardstock.  The cardinal and sentiment are from the Cardinal stamp set from MFP Stamp Shop and was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Tutorial Time on MFPSpeedyTV Challenge 122

For my card this week I chose the sentiments and scarecrows from the Scarecrow set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  For the background I used the Fall Leaf embossing folder from Darice and lightly sponged Wild Honey and Dried Marigold Distress inks for added color.    Two different leaf punches were used to form the wreath.  Spellbinders Circle and Rectangle dies were used for the sentiments and they were stamped with Dried Marigold Distress ink.

This week I've chosen stamps from the Foo Dogs and Works of Art stamp sets from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  All images were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and everything was sponged with Vintage Photo Distress ink.  I added a little bit of color using Copic markers.The background is embossed with the Cuttlebug Oriental Weave embossing folder.

This was my first time at quilling and it was a fun project.  My background was created with a Poppystamps die cut called Zig Zag Knit.  The sentiment is from the Hydrangea stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. and it was stamped with Simon Says Stamp Lipstick Red dye ink.

Oriental Sketch Challenge #56 on MFPSpeedyTV

This week's Oriental Sketch Challenge #56

This week I've chosen stamps from two different sets from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  The KOI and the sentiment are from the KOI Fish set and the bamboo is from the Wealthy Fish set.  The KOI were stamped with VersaMark ink, embossed with white embossing powder, sponged with Salty Ocean Distress ink and then I added drops of water to represent bubbles.  The sentiment and the bamboo were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, the bamboo was colored with Copic markers and both pieces were sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress ink.

For my card this week I chose the double coneflower stamp from the Coneflowers set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  It was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers.  The sentiment was cut using a Hero Arts alphabet die set.  The "bee" was made using a number of punches.

For my card this week I chose a stamp from the Flower Blocks set and the sentiment is from the Roses set.  After creating the background I stamped the flower using Archival Jet Black ink and the sentiment was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

For my card this week I stamped the Beauty Kanji from the Asian Delights set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. using VersaMark ink and embossed it in gold.  The base of the card was embossed with the Cuttlebug Oriental Weave embossing folder.  The image and the Washi paper pieces were adhered to gold foil cardstock and then onto the embossed background.

Tutorial Time on MFPSpeedyTV Challenge 117

I used the beautiful Hydrangea from the new Hydrangea set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  It was stamped in Tuxedo Black ink and the spotlight image was colored with Copic markers.  Even though you can't see it I added the Clear Wink of Stella Brush on the flower for added sparkle, I wish it would show up.  The spotlight was cut with the Spellbinders Circle dies and the base was cut with the Spellbinders Labels Eight dies and sponged with Dusty Concord Distress ink.  The sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, cut out with the Spellbinders Fancy Tags and also sponged with the Dusty Concord Distress ink.

For my card this week I used a stamp from the Lotus Blossoms stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored with Copic markers and I added a bit of glitter with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen on the image.  The corners were cut using the Sizzix Architectural Accent #2 die.

For this technique I used a number of stamp sets all from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  I stamped the Butterfly/Flower circle from the Oriental Joy set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the cover of the album, colored it with Copic markers and added Wink of Stella Brush in clear on the butterfly and flowers.  Thinking of You is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and is from the new Roses set.
 
On the first page I stamped both the miss you from the Great Flowers set and the double Cornflowers from the Cornflowers set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copic markers.  The border was punched with a Martha Stewart Deco Fans punch and adhered to the right edge.
 
The center two pages were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The rose from the Roses set was colored with Copic markers and adhered to a Spellbinders Labels Ten die cut.  The butterfly and the Hello sentiment are from the Butterfly Sayings set and the butterfly border is from the Flower Blocks set.
 
For the last page I used the Let's Hang Out sentiment from the Tree Frogs set. The flowers are punched with a Stampin' Up Pretty Petals punch and enamel dot stickers were placed in the center of each flower.  A small strip of Washi paper was added on the bottom.

All stamps this week are from the Lanterns stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  The images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then again on Washi papers, cut out and glued onto the stamped image.  The top of my screen was cut using the Martha Stewart Cherish punch and the bottom was cut using the smallest Spellbinders Labels One die.

This was a fun technique.  I used the Nature's Brushstroke mini set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. All the images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the flower top was sponged with Worn Lipstick Distress ink.  I chose to use green, blue and red cardstock to coordinate with the colors of the ink that was used for the background.

This week I used a stamp from the Asian Delights set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co. The Geisha was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers.  For the background I used one of the Sizzix embossing folders called Diamonds.  I used the Gold Elements One and the Filigree Corner Spellbinders dies and sponged with Dusty Concord Distress ink.

This week I used one of the new sets called Sun and Moon from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  The sun and sentiment were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the sun was colored with Copic Markers.  Both images were cut with the Spellbinders Peony die and sponged with Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink.  A piece of designer paper was used for the background.

I used a number of stamp sets, all from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  I used Please Snow which is a new set and so much fun to play with.  I also used stamps from Lanterns, Marsh Birds, Tree Greetings, Oriental Joy and Branch of Blossoms.  I used a Sizzix Snowflake embossing folder for the front of the card.  Most of the images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink but some were stamped with Memento Danube Blue ink.  The "snow people" were colored with Copic markers.

Inside Secret Door

 
 

For my second card I used some designer paper instead of stamping on each of the open areas.  All of the stamps are from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.  On the front of the card I used the Gladiolas and the Happy Birthday from the Glad Glads set and they were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The gladiola was colored with Copic markers.  The sentiments came from Great Flowers, Lotus Blossoms, Birds of the Orient, KOI Fish and Branch of Blossoms sets.  The two inside panels were embossed with a Cuttlebug Pretty Posies embossing folder.
